A little lane that comes off Avenue Saint Julien and there we are cut off from the town. Marseille is there and yet it feels as if the old hunting lodge is in the country. A spirit of adventure and modernism has respectfully penetrated the walls of this 17th century house. The old floors of terracotta tiles and the small panes of the windows are a reminder of times gone by. The furnishings, with their modern and sober lines also include some family furniture and a few exceptional pieces; here a Charlotte Perriand easy chair, there an old Chinese chest, abstract paintings and Asian calligraphies on the walls. The unique atmosphere of the house is created by small touches with a distinct preference for unostentatious elegance. Outside there is a lovely terrace and a Mediterranean garden of big earthenware pots and ancient trees that provide welcome shade throughout the long Provencal summer.
